TLC and Your Vehicle

Keeping your car or truck in the best shape takes a little TLC.

You drive a car or truck out of necessity. To get from A to B. To haul, carry, chaperone, or taxi. Mile after mile you need your car or truck to perform. Here are 5 tips to keep your ride in tip-top shape:

1. Follow service guidelines. Oil changes, tire rotations, and regular washes will help keep your car or truck looking and driving like new.

2. Stay attentive behind the wheel. Ditch the cell phone and keep your eyes on the road as much as possible. Accidents can often be avoided when we focus on the task at hand, driving.

3. Signal, even on back roads. Be in the habit of using your signals to let other drivers know your intentions – turning right, turning left, stopped to check on the trailer … blinker, blinker, hazards.

4. Make sure your equipment for that hunting trip, fishing outing, rodeo weekend, or camping with the family is secure in a way that will not scratch up the paint job. And if you are pulling a trailer or boat, confirm the hitch is secure and the electrical connections are in proper working order.

5. Enjoy your time behind the wheel. Make memories that will last. “Remember that time mom and dad took us to the lake in the Yukon and we parked near that field of sunflowers? Dad had his old, dented travel mug and mom tried to paint her nails on the way, getting paint all over the tips of her fingers because of the back-road bumps.”
